Juice out of a carton?

May 30, 2015

There are people who think, why make a fuss if it can be easy. You can buy all kinds of fruit juices in the supermarket. From juices packed in carton boxes to the cooled mixture drinks in the refrigerated section. The packaging radiates health all over. The latest brands with healthy names and exotic fruits make you believe that with a juice like that you get the best of Mother Nature. Unfortunately, that's not entirely true. All cartons or bottles with juice that have a shelf life of over 48 hours (which is almost everything, excluding frozen juice) are at least pasteurized. This means that the juice is heated briefly to kill possibly existing traces of bacteria, fungi, viruses or other organisms. Usualy all of these organisms are present everywhere in small quantities in our domestic existence. Small amounts of these help to keep your immune system active. If you would not pasteurize however (before you put it in a carton) these organisms will multiply exuberantly and will have spoilage of food as a result.

Living food

May 30, 2015

Each living food is actually already dying when you harvest or pick it. The vast majority of living organisms on the crust of our globe need sunlight and water to survive. Remove one of the two and you disturb the balance so the plant dies. Remove both, sunlight and water (the fridge) and the plant merges into a kind of 'hibernation' which it endures a considerable long time before it actually dies. Nutritional values deteriorate each day that passes after the harvest. With some fruits and vegetables this happens quickly, with others more slowly. If you want to get the most out of your food, it's important to eat food as raw and as fresh as possible.

What is wheatgrass?

May 30, 2015

Quite simply put, wheatgrass is just a grass. Like rice, rye, fescue, English ryegrass, etc. etc. Some grasses are well suited to make football fields, others have a high nutritional value and produce a lot of seeds that can be eaten. Each grass has its unique property. Wheatgrass is the grass of the grain of wheat you would normally eat as bread. Actually it is a shame that we bake the bread because when baking in the oven, a lot of the nutrients are lost.

Man has come to this earth and in the first thousand years never cooked or processed food into flour. We all know that eating fresh fruits and vegetables is the best for us. Yet we eat a lot of food that is processed and has lost its nutritional value due to various processes.
